It's really more South Ocean Blvd and South Kings Highway. Socastee, Market Common and surrounding area is very reasonably safe. I lived in MB in the 90's and that South Ocean Blvd/South Kings Highway area wasn't really too bad if you're a grown, adult male not looking for trouble, but otherwise I wouldn't go.
