The light have been flashing for a month but it would go into 4 Wheel drive but now it won't. Repair shop is having difficulty figuring it out. Don't want to throw a lot of money at it as it has 252K.

If front never locks its your front actuator, if front locks but center does not then its your center actuator. Keep in mind that the 4wd functions perfectly until this happens, It’s totally random, and totally intermittent. Usually will clear itself after cycling the ignition after the vehicle sits for a minute or two. Of course the dealership is of absolutely ZERO help. So, I got a new battery from Costco ($59) and put it in. It took 15-20 seconds of cranking to get the car started. Once it was started, the engine sounded fine and the RPM normal. Yes, I finally got to it and fix it. It was the 4wd actuator switch on the transfer case. Does not turn off and still running. Dash has blinking 4LO, check engine light is on, vsc light on and wont go but 5mph. Towed it to toyota, and they plugged in and said it had something to do with the throttle body. Drove about 7000 miles, then at another stop light it does the same thing.
