If the key is IN the ignition, the doors cannot be locked (manually, key fob, or otherwise, if the system is operating as designed - prevents the doors being locked when the key is in the ignition).I fixed this by opening the hatch and liberally spraying silicon directly on the mechanical latch at the bottom of the door.
