SXM is a duty free port, so customs is rarely an issue (unlike AXA). I am sure they do random checks and if they have reason to suspect drugs or weapons, but they don't really care if you bring in a pair of NIkes for a friend on the island. AXA will quiz you a lot about stuff in your luggage, even if they don't open it.

Last time we went to SXM, it was on United via Newark - cheaper than Air Canada, but required an overnight stay. The previous time it was on American Airlines - a two hop flight but cheaper than Air Canada. A quick search finds Toronto to SXM January 14 to Feb 8 for $576 return on American, two hops plus an overnight stay both directions.In theory you might be able to get the test done on SBH, then fly to SXM the next day (with EHAS approvals) and to the US the day after (with US approvals,) but the flow needs to be perfect. You should be able to get to SXM and onward to NYC in one day, which will be lower risk and lower hassle. 6.Hi, possibly look at Funtime. Their website says they leave SXM 4:30pm for the 25 minute boat ride to Anguilla.
