The main reason isn't because of the square footage (83.3 sq ft plus a small vestibule), but because of the layout. The Kingdom is more of a rectangle, with a much longer length (10' long) and shorter width (8' 4").At $599 this REI tent isn't that great of a value. The older Kingdom 6p, if you can deal with its flaws, is quite a bargain right now on clearance for $300. Both the Wonderland and the Skyward require a REI membership to purchase now. You are going to see this more and more at REI with the hiring of the former Amazon executive.

Also, one small detail is that the new Wunderland 4 no longer has the backpack-style storage bag, which I have found very convenient with my Kingdom 4. Now it's just a typical cylindrical bag.
