Received 435 Likes on 372 Posts. While I would not run a larger charger through the lighter plug, a tender puts out very little current and will not stress the plug at all. An actual cigarette lighter draws many times more current through the plug and the plug is designed for that.

If the battery itself is showing 10 volts or below--it is never going to start the car. A fully charged battery should read 12.6 volts. A clicking noise heard from the started means it is not getting enough current.
