I do however thing that in the case of Linus he comes across as someone trying to compensate. The reasons why are more nuanced than just "post video = bad. Not post video = good".

Linus essentially sent billets an email asking for a quote, and "if they are good, i'm good" on the price, i don't know how people can extrapolate a phantom timeline and say linus lied. As reported by GN, I feel it was by far the most egregious mistake made by LMG. It also made Linus' initial response seem even more heartless. Personally, this response from Linus feels like a backhanded apology. It seems like Linus tried to minimize the mistakes by implying that they're a natural result of transparency and downplaying the importance of wrong data.
