When I saw the initial pics, I noticed the condenser & coil config were identical to mine in a 1986 318 w/B43G. The later pics confirmed yours as a 1983 318 B43G machine. So, I have a 1986 B43G configured the same (with the newer replacement coil and external condenser).

onan B model B43G-GA018/4327D L853-959817. The first thing you need to check is to see if you have 12 volts to the positive terminal of the coil while the engine is cranking. If you do not, we need to figure out why. If you do have 12 volts to the coil, the problem is most likely in the points. Visually inspect them. Clean or replace as necessary.
