Carb issue, off idle bogging. I have a 1998 Vulcan 800 Classic. I bought the bike after it had been sitting for a while. I cleaned the carb really well, blew air through everything, and installed new jets, needle, float needle, and gaskets. After fixing the carb issues and riding her around the block I completely stripped her bare and started cutting junk out of the wiring harness. Of course, she won't start now.Clean the kill switch contacts while you are there. Pull the ignition fuse (number 7). Check for power to the fuse. If have power, clean the fuse spades with the wire brush and reinstall. While the bike is running, check the side stand switch and clutch switch. All 800 motors for the Vulcan line are the same, with this exception. The 95 and 96 models had a higher 1st and 2nd gear ratio than all others I believe. It could be that the meter is off, though. You might want to check the voltage and the connection points with a multimeter to compare.900 classic,terrible suspension problems.
