The problem: A physical depression of 40% of the brake pedal is pretty much as far as it'll go if you really push on it. Slamming the brakes on in-game results in only ~30% braking which is pretty much completely unplayable. There isn’t a one size fits all “correct” setting. So try the default in order to have a baseline. Then when you tweak it you can feel the difference and decide if you prefer it. I think you’ll find this to be a recurring theme in sim racing.
