The Deuce is one of the most fun vehicles that I've ever driven. Between the manual trans, the turbo whine and the unmuffled exhaust, I can easily overlook the 50 mph top speed and the fact that it takes 20 minutes to hit the top speed. I cried when the Army took away the Duece and gave us the crappy FMTVs.

Actually the fuel mileage isn't any worse than a 4x4 pulling a decent size camper or trailer. As far as a conventional semi being better, that depends.
