One day I ran lost sectors 5 times and got to exotics. The other day I ran it 30 times to finally get one. If you can do the master one then your chances are much better in getting that drop. If you can't then be prepared to grind it if you really want that exotic. You can going for exotics till daily reset.

Besides obvious RNG, make sure every run you are getting Platinum Rewards (shows in the kill/info feed at the bottom left after the first one). Missing or despawning even one champion can cause you to drop from Platinum to Gold rewards on many of the lost sectors.
