The 6 speed speed isn’t a bad transmission but the rear end ratios GM combined it with was a performance problem. The 10 speed offers so much more performance with the 6.6 gasser compared to the 6 speed. I just know the performance I get with my Silverado with the 10 speed vs. the Silverado I had with the 6 speed is night and day difference.

The 8 speed tranny is a problem. Mine went kaboom at 98k miles (2017 Denali, 6.2l, 8 spd). Nothing but metal in the pan. Had ALLY extended warranty and trans was replaced at no cost to me.
