More bullet means more support for greater expansion & more wt retention for deeper penetration. Generally recoil will feel a bit softer as the bullet wt goes up. In 9mm I am not a fan of the 115gr so it is 124gr+p or 147gr+p HST.A very common load is Speer Gold Dot 124gr+P. The +P provides more velocity. Also the shorter your barrel the less velocity you would get out of your bullet.
